Þúsund og ein nótt
The play A Thousand and One Nights won a script competition in 2020 and was scheduled to be premiered in Tjarnarbíó in November that year. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 regulations it never saw the (stage)light of day. The group was offered to stage the play in the autumn of 2021, but after an arduous waiting period and countless obstacles, the group decided to publish the play rather than perform it so it could serve as a relic of the unprecedented times it was written in.
The play was created when performing arts were completely illegal in Iceland and it is symbolic that it will always exist in limbo, a piece of dialogue spoken in silence.
The book A Thousand and One Nights or The Sunken Show is a collection of plays, poems and opinion pieces, all of which were written during the first lockdown of 2020.
In the booklet you can find stories from the performance collective that never was. The group consists of Björg Steinunn, Anna Kristín, María Kristín and Hólmfríður Hafliðadóttir.
